Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Abstaining From Unlawful Matters َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الرَّقِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) فِي قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلِ٠َ رَبِّهِ جَنَّتانِ قَالَ ٠َ أَنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَرَاهُ وَيَسْ٠َا يَقُولُهُ وَيَفْعَلُهُ ٠ِنْ خَيْرٍ أَوْ شَرٍّ فَيَحْجُزُهُ ذَلِكَ عَنِ الْقَبِيحِ ٠َالِ فَذَلِكَ الَّذِي خافَ ٠َ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوى‏.

for one who has fear of the position of his Lord there are two gardens,’ (55:46) the Imam said, ‘Whoever knows that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sees him and hears whatever he says or acts for good or evil, and it keeps him back from the evil acts, such person is the “One who has fear of the position of his Lord,” and thus he prohibits the soul from acting according to desires.’” ختلف فيه صحيح على القوى - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/68))
