Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Silence and Controlling the Tongue َيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْخَشَّابِ عَنِ ابْنِ بَقَّاحٍ عَنْ ٠ُعَاذِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ عَ٠َيْعٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ الْ٠َسِيحُ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) يَقُولُ لا تُكْثِرُوا الْكَلا٠َ فِي غَيْرِ ذِكْرِ الله فَإِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُكْثِرُونَ الْكَلا٠َ فِي غَيْرِ ذِكْرِ الله قَاسِيَةٌ قُلُوبُهُ٠ْ وَلَكِنْ لا يَعْلَ٠11.

Hamid ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Khashshab from ibn Baqqah from Mu’adh ibn Thabit from ‘Amr ibn Jami’ from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Jesus would say, “Do not speak a great deal in things other than speaking of Allah.

Those who speak a great deal in things other than speaking of Allah are hardhearted, but they do not know it.’”” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/219))
