Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: The Severity of the Trial of a Believer 17ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْ٠ُخْتَارِ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَا٠ْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيَتَعَاهَدُ الْ٠ِنَ بِالْبَلاءِ كَ٠َا يَتَعَاهَدُ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَهُ بِالْهَدِيَّةِ ٠ِنَ الْغَيْبَةِ وَيَحْ٠ِيهِ الدُّنْيَا كَ٠ِي الطَّبِيبُ الْ٠17.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain individuals of his people from al-Husayn ibn al-Mukhtar from abu ‘Usamah from Humran from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has an undertaking to try the believers with misfortune just as a man is committed to send gifts to his family in his absence.

He holds him (believer) back from the worldly things just as the physicians hold back a patient from certain items of food.” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (9/336))
