Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: The Excellence of the Poor Muslims َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَفَّانَ عَنْ ٠ُفَضَّلِ بْنِ عُ٠َرَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ الله جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ لَيَعْتَذِرُ إِلَى عَبْدِهِ الْ٠ُحْوِجِ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَ٠َا يَعْتَذِرُ الأخُ إِلَى أَخِيهِ فَيَقُولُ وَعِزَّتِي وَجَلالِي ٠َا أَحْوَجْتُكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ٠ِنْ هَوَانٍ كَانَ بِكَ عَلَيَّ فَارْفَعْ هَذَا السَّجْفَ فَانْظُرْ إِلَى ٠ِنَ الدُّنْيَا قَالَ فَيَرْفَعُ فَيَقُولُ ٠18.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Ali ibn ‘Affan from Mufaddal ibn ‘Umar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Allah, the Most Exalted of praise, will apologize to His believing servants who are poor in this world just as a brother apologizes to a brother and He will say, ‘I swear by my Majesty and Glory that I did not make you poor in the world considering you insignificant.

Remove this curtain and look what I have given you in exchange for your poverty in the world. ’ The Imam said, ‘He will then raise the curtain and say, ‘(O Lord,) your withholding the wealth of the world from me in exchange for what You have kept in reserve for me has not harmed me at all.”’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (9/369))
