Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Love of and Greed for Worldly Things ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْقَنْدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي وَكِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ السَّبِيعِيِّ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ الأعْوَرِ عَنْ أَ٠ِنِينَ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) إِنَّ الدِّينَارَ وَالدِّرْهَ٠َنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُ٠6.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ya’qub ibn Yazid from Ziyad al-Qandi from abu Waki’ from ibn Ishaq al-Sabi’i from al-Harith al-A’War from Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘The world and dirham (money) have destroyed those who lived before you and they will destroy you also.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (10/232))
