Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Those Who Seek to Find Mistakes and (expose) Privacies of the Believers َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ وَالْفَضْلِ ابْنَيْ يَزِيدَ الأشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ وَأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالا أَقْرَبُ ٠َا يَكُونُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى الْكُفْرِ أَنْ يُوَاخِيَ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى الدِّينِ فَيُحْصِيَ عَلَيْهِ عَثَرَاتِهِ وَزَلاتِهِ لِيُعَنِّفَهُ بِهَا يَوْ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Sinan from Ibrahim and al-Fadl sons of Yazid al-Ash’ari from ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr from Zurara from abu Ja’far and Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘A servant (of Allah) is closest to disbelief when he assumes brotherhood (in belief) with a man and then begins to count his mistakes and slips so he can one day use them against him.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (10/399))
