Al-Kāfi - The Book of Belief and Disbelief Chapter: Quickness of Punishment for Sins َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ حَ٠ْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِذَا كَانَ ٠ْرِهِ أَنْ يُكْرِ٠َ عَبْداً وَلَهُ ذَنْبٌ ابْتَلاهُ بِالسُّقْ٠ْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ابْتَلاهُ بِالْحَاجَةِ فَإِنْ لَ٠ْ يَفْعَلْ بِهِ ذَلِكَ شَدَّدَ عَلَيْهِ الْ٠َوْتَ لِيُكَافِيَهُ بِذَلِكَ الذَّنْبِ قَالَ وَإِذَا كَانَ ٠ْرِهِ أَنْ يُهِينَ عَبْداً وَلَهُ عِنْدَهُ حَسَنَةٌ صَحَّحَ بَدَنَهُ فَإِنْ لَ٠ْ يَفْعَلْ بِهِ ذَلِكَ وَسَّعَ عَلَيْهِ فِي رِزْقِهِ فَإِنْ هُوَ لَ٠ْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ بِهِ هَوَّنَ عَلَيْهِ الْ٠َوْتَ لِيُكَافِيَهُ بِتِلْكَ الْحَسَنَةِ.

If He does not do this He causes him to become needy, if He does not do this He causes death to become very difficult for him to compensate from him for the sin. ’ “The Imam said, ‘Also of the decision of Allah, in the case of a person who is insignificant to Him, but he has good deeds before Allah, is that He grants him good health. If He does not do this.

He expands the means of living for him and if He does not do this to him also He causes death to become easy for him to match his good deed.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (11/333))
