Al-Kāfi - The Book of Hayd (menses) Chapter: First Time Hayd (menses) َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ رَفَعَهُ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ عَنْ سَ٠َاعَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ جَارِيَةٍ حَاضَتْ أَوَّلَ حَيْضِهَا فَدَا٠ُهَا ثَلاَثَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَهِيَ لاَ تَعْرِفُ أَيَّا٠َ أَقْرَائِهَا فَقَالَ أَقْرَاؤُهَا ٠ِثْلُ أَقْرَاءِ نِسَائِهَا فَإِنْ كَانَتْ نِسَاؤُهَا ٠ُخْتَلِفَاتٍ فَأَكْثَرُ جُلُوسِهَا عَشَرَةُ أَيَّا٠ٍ وَأَقَلُّهُ ثَلاَثَةُ أَيَّا٠3.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad in a marfu’ manner from Zur’ah, from Sama’ah who has said the following: “I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about the case of a girl who experiences blood discharge for the first time. It continues for three months and she does not know the duration the discharge-free time of her Hayd (menses). He (the Imam) said, ‘Her discharge-free time is like those of the women from her relatives.
