Al-Kāfi - The Book of Hayd (menses) Chapter: Women during Hayd Can Pick up Things from a Masjid but Must Not Leave Anything Therein َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ كَيْفَ صَارَتِ الْحَائِضُ تَأْخُذُ ٠َسْجِدِ وَلاَ تَضَعُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ لأَنَّ الْحَائِضَ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَضَعَ ٠َا فِي يَدِهَا فِي غَيْرِهِ وَلاَ تَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurarah who has said the following: “I once asked Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), ‘How is it that women during their experiencing Hayd (menses) can pick up things from Masjid, but cannot leave anything therein?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because such women can leave what is in their hands in other places and cannot take what is there (in the Masjid) except from it (Masjid).”’ (The above Hadith is best explained in the form of fatwa.) صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (13/252))
