Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: Undesirability of Perfuming the Shroud or Warming Water for Washing Dead Bodies ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ عِدَّةٍ ٠ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ لاَ يُسَخَّنُ الْ٠َيِّتِ وَلاَ يُعَجَّلُ لَهُ النَّارُ وَلاَ يُحَنَّطُ بِ٠2.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad, from Ya’qub ibn Yazid from a number of our people who have said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘There is no need for warming up of water for Ghusl (bath) of a deceased, starting up a fire and perfuming the shroud.”’ شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (13/317))
