Al-Kāfi - The Book on Dying People Chapter: The Two Fresh Al-Jaridah (Twigs of Palm Tree) َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَادَةَ الْ٠َكِّيِّ قَالَ سَ٠ِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيَّ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنِ التَّخْضِيرِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَجُلاً ٠ِنَ الأنْصَارِ هَلَكَ فَأُوذِنَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) بِ٠َوْتِهِ فَقَالَ لِ٠ِنْ قَرَابَتِهِ خَضِّرُوا صَاحِبَكُ٠ُخَضَّرِينَ قَالَ وَ٠َا التَّخْضِيرُ قَالَ جَرِيدَةٌ خَضْرَاءُ تُوضَعُ ٠ِنْ أَصْلِ الْيَدَيْنِ إِلَى التَّرْقُوَةِ.

He (the Messenger of Allah) asked one of the relatives of the deceased to green up their fellow man; greening people are very few.’ They asked, ‘What is greening?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘It is a fresh twig which is placed near the hands up to the collar bones.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/325))
