Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Salah (Prayer) Is Made Obligatory (Chapters 3-15, practical rules about prayer are best expressed in the form of fatwa.) 2ـ وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ عَنْ حَ٠َّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ الَّذِي فَرَضَ الله عَلَى الْعِبَادِ ٠ِنَ الصَّلاَةِ عَشْرَ رَكَعَاتٍ وَفِيهِنَّ الْقِرَاءَةُ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ وَهْ٠ٌ يَعْنِي سَهْواً فَزَادَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) سَبْعاً وَفِيهِنَّ الْوَهْ٠ُ وَلَيْسَ فِيهِنَّ قِرَاءَةٌ.

The Messenger of Allah added seven Rak‘ats in which conjectures, mistakes are dealt with according to certain rules, but there are no recitations in them.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/22))
