Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from âAbd Allah ibn Muhammad al-Hajjal from Thaâlabah ibn Maymun from âImran ibn Ali al-Halabiy who has said the following: âI once asked abu âAbd Allah (a.s.), about when al-âAtmah (al-âIshaâ) becomes obligatory? He (the Imam) said, âWhen al-Shafaq (redness) disappears.
Al-Shafaq is the redness.â âUbayd Allah then said, âI pray to Allah to keep you well, after the disappearance of redness there remains a strong light visible.â Abu âAbd Allah (a.s.), said, âBrightness (al-Shafaq) is the redness and light (or rays) are not from al-Shafaq.ââ صØÙØ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (5/41))
