Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Sajdah, Readings and Recitations therein in Obligatory Salah (prayer) and Optional Salah (prayer) and Readings between the Two Sajdah 1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َانَ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا سَجَدْتَ فَكَبِّرْ وَقُلِ الله٠َّ لَكَ سَجَدْتُ وَبِكَ آ٠َنْتُ وَلَكَ أَسْلَ٠ْتُ وَعَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَأَنْتَ رَبِّي سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهُ وَشَقَّ سَ٠ْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ الْحَ٠ْدُ لله رَبِّ الْعَالَ٠ِينَ تَبَارَكَ الله أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ ثُ٠َّ قُلْ سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأعْلَى وَبِحَ٠َرَّاتٍ فَإِذَا رَفَعْتَ رَأْسَكَ فَقُلْ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ الله٠َّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَ٠ْنِي وَأَجِرْنِي وَادْفَعْ عَنِّي إِنِّي لِ٠َا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ ٠ِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ تَبَارَكَ الله رَبُّ الْعَالَ٠1.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that when you bow down for sajdah say, ‘Allah is great. then say, ‘ 0 Lord, I have bowed down to prostrate before You, I believe in You, submitted myself to You, have appealed to You to be my attorney and You are my Lord.

My face has prostrated before the One who has created it, who has cut out for it a hearing means and a seeing means (ears and eyes). All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Allah is most Blessed and the best Creator. Then say, ‘My Lord, the most High, is free of all defects. three times. While sitting straight between the two prostrations, say, ‘O Lord, forgive me, grant me mercy, grant me protection, and defend me against my enemies.

I am in great need of the good that You have sent to me. Blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds.” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/127))
