Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Sajdah, Readings and Recitations therein in Obligatory Salah (prayer) and Optional Salah (prayer) and Readings between the Two Sajdah َّدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْقَنْدِيِّ قَالَ كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الأوَّلِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠ْنِي دُعَاءً فَإِنِّي قَدْ بُلِيتُ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ وَكَانَ قَدْ حُبِسَ بِبَغْدَادَ حَيْثُ اتُّهِ٠ْ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَأَطِلِ السُّجُودَ ثُ٠َّ قُلْ يَا أَحَدَ ٠َنْ لاَ أَحَدَ لَهُ حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ النَّفَسُ ثُ٠َنْ لاَ يَزِيدُهُ كَثْرَةُ الدُّعَاءِ إِلاَّ جُوداً وَكَرَ٠اً حَتَّى تَنْقَطِعَ نَفَسُكَ ثُ٠َّ قُلْ يَا رَبَّ الأرْبَابِ أَنْتَ أَنْتَ أَنْتَ الَّذِي انْقَطَعَ الرَّجَاءُ إِلاَّ ٠ِنْكَ يَا عَلِيُّ يَا عَظِي٠ُ قَالَ زِيَادٌ فَدَعَوْتُ بِهِ فَفَرَّجَ الله عَنِّي وَخَلَّى سَبِيلِي.

‘O the One who does not need anyone ’ - for one breathe, then say, ‘O the One to whom pleading does not do anything but to increase His generosity and grace.’ Say it for one breath, then say, ‘O Lord of lords, You are the One, You are the One and You are the One in whom there is hope while from all others all hope is cut off, O most High, most Great.’ Ziyad has said, T practiced the above supplication and my hardships were removed and I was set free.’” (The following chapters are best explained by fatwa.) رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (5/141))
