Al-Kāfi - The Book of Prayer

Chapter: Placing the Forehead on the Ground َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَ٠َّارٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ ٠ُصَادِفٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ بِي دُ٠َّلٌ فَكُنْتُ أَسْجُدُ عَلَى جَانِبٍ فَرَأَى أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلا٠) أَثَرَهُ فَقَالَ ٠َا هَذَا فَقُلْتُ لاَ أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ ٠ِنْ أَجْلِ الدُّ٠ُنْحَرِفاً فَقَالَ لِي لاَ تَفْعَلْ وَلَكِنِ احْفِرْ حُفَيْرَةً فَاجْعَلِ الدُّ٠َّلَ فِي الْحُفْرَةِ حَتَّى تَقَعَ جَبْهَتُكَ عَلَى الأرْضِ.

Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), noticed it and asked, ‘What is this?’ I replied, ‘I cannot perform Sajdah (prostration) because of the pimple so I perform Sajdah (prostration) on one side.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You must not do so, instead make a dent, then place the dimple in the dent area so your forehead touches the ground.’” رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (15/153))
