Muhammad ibn âIsmaâil has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan, from Ibn Abi âUmayr from âAbd al-Rahman ibn al-Hajjaj who has said the following: âI once asked abu âAbd Allah (a.s.), about the case of one of our women who is mixed (with insanity) if she is required to pay Zakat.
He (the Imam) said, âIf her assets are made to work, then Zakat is obligatory on her, but if it is not made to work, Zakat is not obligatory.ââ صØÙØ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (6/77))
