Chapter: The Excellence of Moderation ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َرْوَكِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) يَا عُبَيْدُ إِنَّ السَّرَفَ يُورِثُ الْفَقْرَ وَإِنَّ الْقَصْدَ يُورِثُ الْغِنَى. 8.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Marwak ibn ‘Ubayd from his father, ‘Ubayd who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘O ‘Ubayd, excessive spending causes poverty but moderation leads to wealth.’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (6/184))
