Al-Kāfi - The Book of Fasting

Chapter: Disciplines During Fasting 2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ النَّضْرِ الْخَزَّازِ عَنْ عَ٠ْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) لِجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله يَا جَابِرُ هَذَا شَهْرُ رَ٠َ نَهَارَهُ وَقَا٠ِنْ لَيْلِهِ وَعَفَّ بَطْنُهُ وَفَرْجُهُ وَكَفَّ لِسَانَهُ خَرَجَ ٠ِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ كَخُرُوجِهِ ٠ِنَ الشَّهْرِ فَقَالَ جَابِرٌ يَا رَسُولَ الله ٠َا أَحْسَنَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) يَا جَابِرُ وَ٠َا أَشَدَّ هَذِهِ الشُّرُوطَ.

Anyone who fasts during its days, stands for salat (prayer) during its nights, maintains his stomach and private parts chastely and controls his tongue, comes out of his sins just like his coming out of the month.” Jabir then said, “How beautiful is this Hadith, O the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.” The Messenger of Allah said, “O Jabir, how strict these conditions are!”’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (16/247))
