Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

9ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) عَنِ الْحَجِّ فَقَالَ تَ٠َّ قَالَ إِنَّا إِذَا وَقَفْنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قُلْنَا يَا رَبِّ أَخَذْنَا بِكِتَابِكَ وَسُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَقَالَ النَّاسُ رَأَيْنَا بِرَأْيِنَا.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Make it al-Hajj al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous).’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘When we will stand before Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, we will say, “O our Lord, we followed Your book and the Sunnah of Your Holy prophet, but people will say, ‘We looked into our minds (opinions) and we followed them.””” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (17/189))
