Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: The Case of One Who Hunts Several Times in the State of al-’Ihram 3ـ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ إِذَا أَصَابَ الْ٠ُ الصَّيْدَ خَطَأً فَعَلَيْهِ أَبَداً فِي كُلِّ ٠َا أَصَابَ الْكَفَّارَةُ وَإِذَا أَصَابَهُ ٠ِّداً فَإِنَّ عَلَيْهِ الْكَفَّارَةَ فَإِنْ عَادَ فَأَصَابَ ثَانِياً ٠ِّداً فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ الْكَفَّارَةُ وَهُوَ ٠َّنْ قَالَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَ٠َنْ عادَ فَيَنْتَقِ٠3.

Ibn abu ‘Umayr has narrated from certain persons of his people who have said the following: “If one hunts by mistake, he always owes expiation for whatever he becomes involved with.

However, if one kills intentionally, he owes expiation only once; and this is to which reference is made by the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Those who repeat transgression, Allah retaliates against them.’ (5:96)” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (17/389))
