Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: Matters Permissible in the State of al-’ Ihram after Shower, Such as Perfume, Hunting and Others Before Talbiyah (Here I am O Lord, to obey Your command) َدُ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَلاءِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ الْ٠ِ يَدَّهِنُ بَعْدَ الْغُسْلِ قَالَ نَعَ٠ْ فَادَّهَنَّا عِنْدَهُ بِسَلِيخَةِ بَانٍ وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ كَانَ يَدَّهِنُ بَعْدَ ٠َا يَغْتَسِلُ لِلإِحْرَا٠ِ وَأَنَّهُ يَدَّهِنُ بِالدُّهْنِ ٠ْ يَكُنْ غَالِيَةً أَوْ دُهْناً فِيهِ ٠ِسْكٌ أَوْ عَنْبَرٌ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is permissible.’ We applied cassia-bark in his presence and he (the Imam) mentioned that his father would apply oil after Ghusl (bath) for Ihram and he would apply oil as long as it was not costly or mixed with musk or ambergris.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (7/254))
