Al-Kāfi - The Book of Haj

Chapter: The Obligation of Offering Sacrifice and the Place Where It Should Be Slaughtered َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ ابْنِ ٠ُسْكَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الأَعْرَجِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَ٠َتَّعَ فِي أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ ثُ٠َكَّةَ حَتَّى يَحْضُرَ الْحَجُّ ٠ِنْ قَابِلٍ فَعَلَيْهِ شَاةٌ وَ٠َتَّعَ فِي غَيْرِ أَشْهُرِ الْحَجِّ ثُ٠َّ جَاوَرَ حَتَّى يَحْضُرَ الْحَجُّ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَ٠ُفْرَدَةٌ وَإِنَّ٠َا الأَضْحَى عَلَى أَهْلِ الأَ٠1.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from Sa‘id al-A’raj who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Whoever is for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) in the months of al-Hajj. then remains in Makkah until the time of coming al-Hajj, he owes one sheep.

Those who are for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous) in a time other than the months of al-Hajj, then remain in (Makkah) until it is time for al-Hajj, they do not owe anything because it is a Mufrad al-Hajj and al- Adha’.
