Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) 3- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِ٠َّدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْ٠َانَ بْنِ دَاوُدَ الْ٠ِنْقَرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْ٠َاعِيلَ الْبَلْخِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي حَ٠َالِيِّ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِيَ الْحَجَّاجُ وَسَأَلَنِي عَنْ خُرُوجِ النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) إِلَى ٠َشَاهِدِهِ فَقُلْتُ شَهِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) بَدْراً فِي ثَلاثِ٠ِائَةٍ وَثَلاثَةَ عَشَرَ وَشَهِدَ أُحُداً فِي سِتِّ٠ِائَةٍ وَشَهِدَ الْخَنْدَقَ فِي تِسْعِ٠ِائَةٍ فَقَالَ عَ٠َّنْ قُلْتُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ ٠) فَقَالَ ضَلَّ وَاللهِ ٠َنْ سَلَكَ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِهِ.

I said, ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, mobilized for Badr with three hundred and thirteen people.

He mobilized for Uhud with six hundred and for al-Khandaq (Battle of Ditches) with nine hundred people.’ He asked, ‘Who has said it?’ I replied, ‘Ja’far ibn Muhammad (a.s.).’ He then said, ‘By Allah whoever adopts a way other than his way is lost.’” ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/383))
