Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: The Virtue of Maintaining Horses, Racing and Sharp Shooting Contests َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ غِيَاثِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِ٠) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) أَجْرَى الْخَيْلَ وَجَعَلَ سَبَقَهَا أَوَاقِيَّ ٠7.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim from abu ‘ Abd Allah, from his father, from Ali ibn Al-Husayn, recipients of divine supreme covenant, who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, made the reward for horse to race for a contest in the form of Awaqiy (a certain weight) of silver.” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (8/389))
