Al-Kāfi - The Book of Jihad (Serving in the Army) Chapter: Commanding others what is Obligatory and to Prohibit them from doing Evil 7- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ رِجَالِهِ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَوْحَى إِلَى دَاوُدَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ ذَنْبَكَ وَجَعَلْتُ عَارَ ذَنْبِكَ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَقَالَ كَيْفَ يَا رَبِّ وَأَنْتَ لا تَظْلِ٠ْ يُعَاجِلُوكَ بِالنَّكَرَةِ.

He (the Lord) replied, ‘Because they did not express disappointment for what you had done.’” (This Hadith is addressed to Dawud but it is meant to apply to others.
