Al-Kāfi - The Book of Marriage Chapter: Conditions of al-Mut‘ah (Advantageous Marriage) ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ وَ٠َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ ٠َحْبُوبٍ عَنْ جَ٠ِيلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) قَالَ لا تَكُونُ ٠ُتْعَةٌ إِلا بِأَ٠1.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad and Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad all from ibn Mahbub from Jamil ibn Salih from Zurarah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) cannot take place without two issues: they are the duration of time and the amount of mahr (dower).”’ صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (20/237))
