Al-Kāfi - The Book of ‘Aqiqah (Offering Animal Sacrifice for a Newborn Child) Chapter: Shaving Certain Parts of the Head of a Newborn and Leaving other Parts عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنِ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِصَبِيٍّ يَدْعُو لَهُ وَ لَهُ قَنَازِعُ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَدْعُوَ لَهُ وَ أَ٠َرَ بِحَلْقِ رَأْسِهِ وَ أَ٠َرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِحَلْقِ شَعْرِ الْبَطْنِ.

He (the Messenger of Allah) instructed them to shave his head entirely. The Messenger of Allah commanded to shave belly hairs شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/70))
