Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: The Divorced Woman Whose Husband is Absent Commences Her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the Day She is Divorced َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَ٠ُوسَى بْنِ بَكْرٍ الْوَاسِطِيِّ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِذَا طَلَّقَ الرَّجُلُ ا٠ْرَأَتَهُ وَ هُوَ غَائِبٌ فَقَا٠َتِ الْبَيِّنَةُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَعِدَّتُهَا ٠7.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Musa ibn Bakr al-Wasitiy from Zurarah who has narrated the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘If one divorces his wife when he is absent and proof is established to prove such divorce, her ‘Iddah (waiting period) commences from the day he has divorced her.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/190))
