Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: The Case of a Woman whose Husband Dies before Going to Bed with her and that there is no Waiting Period and Mahr (dower) for her َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ْرَأَةٍ هَلَكَ زَوْجُهَا وَ لَ٠ْ يَدْخُلْ بِهَا قَالَ لَهَا الْ٠ِيرَاثُ وَ عَلَيْهَا الْعِدَّةُ كَا٠َهْراً فَلَهَا نِصْفُهُ وَ إِنْ لَ٠َهْراً فَلَا شَيْ‏ءَ لَهَا.

He (the Imam) said, ‘She inherits and must count the waiting period, if mahr (dower) was set for her she deserved one-half of it, otherwise, she does not have the right to demand mahr (dower).”’ وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (1/205))
