Al-Kāfi - The Book of Talaq (Divorces) Chapter: How the Choice originally was وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَ٠ْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ ٠ِثْلَهُ.وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ سَالِ٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) فِي الرَّجُلِ إِذَا خَيَّرَ ا٠ْرَأَتَهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ٠َا الْخِيَرَةُ لَنَا لَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ وَ إِنَّ٠َا خَيَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لِ٠َكَانِ عَائِشَةَ فَاخْتَرْنَ اللَّهَ وَ رَسُولَهُ وَ لَ٠ْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ أَنْ يَخْتَرْنَ غَيْرَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ).

They then chose Allah and His Messenger and they must not have chosen anyone other than the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.’” وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/233))
