Al-Kāfi - The Book of Hunting

Chapter: Hunting Dog and Cheetah حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ٠َّدٍ هَارُونُ بْنُ ٠ُوسَى التَّلَّعُكْبَرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ٠َّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْكُلَيْنِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَ ٠َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى جَ٠ِيعاً عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َانَ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي كِتَابِ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلا٠) فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ ٠ِنَ الْجَوارِحِ ٠ُكَلِّبِينَ قَالَ هِيَ الْكِلَابُ.

All of them have narrated from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Hammad ibn ‘Uthaman from al-Halabiy who has narrated the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is in the book of Ali (a.s.), about the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious,.. and whatever of the hunting beasts you may train... He (the Imam) has said, ‘It is a reference to (hunting) dogs.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (21/335))
