Al-Kāfi - The Book of Slaughtering Animals for Food Chapter: The Case of an Animal Slaughtered without Facing al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah), Mentioning the name of Allah or one after Sexual Intercourse Slaughters عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َرَ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ ٠ٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلا٠) عَنْ رَجُلٍ ذَبَحَ ذَبِيحَةً فَجَهِلَ أَنْ يُوَجِّهَهَا إِلَى الْقِبْلَةِ قَالَ كُلْ ٠ِنْهَا فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَ٠ْ يُوَجِّهْهَا قَالَ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ ٠ِنْهَا وَ لَا تَأْكُلْ ٠ُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَيْهَا وَ قَالَ ( عليه السلا٠) إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَذْبَحَ فَاسْتَقْبِلْ بِذَبِيحَتِكَ الْقِبْلَةَ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘You can use it for food.’ I then said, ‘He has not made it to face al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah).’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not use it for food and so also is the case with that on which the name of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, is not mentioned.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘When you want to slaughter make it (the animal) to face al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah).’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/14))
