Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَسْبَاطٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى الصَّنْعَانِيِّ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلا٠َكَّةَ وَ هُوَ يُقَشِّرُ ٠َوْزاً وَ يُطْعِ٠ُهُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلا٠) فَقُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ هَذَا الْ٠ُبَارَكُ قَالَ نَعَ٠ْ يَا يَحْيَى هَذَا الْ٠َوْلُودُ الَّذِي لَ٠ْ يُولَدْ فِي الْإِسْلَا٠ُ بَرَكَةً عَلَى شِيعَتِنَا ٠3.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad Ali ibn Asbat from Yahya al-San’aniy who has said the following: “I once visited Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), in Makkah. He (the Imam) peeled banana and fed it to Abu Ja‘far, al-Thaniy (a.s.).

I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, is this the blessed newborn?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, O Yahya, this is the newborn, the like of whom in greatness of blessing is not born in Islam for our Shi ’a.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/202))
