Abu Ali al-Ashâariy has narrated from Muhammad ibn âAbd al-Jabbar from Muhammad ibn âIsmaâil from Ali ibn al-Nuâman from Saâid al-Aâraj who has said the following: âI once asked abu âAbd Allah (a.s.), about rat or dog that falls in ghee and oil, then it is taken out alive. He (the Imam) said, âIt is not unlawful to use it for food.ââ (In al-Tahdhib by Shaykh there is no mention of dog. It perhaps is a mistake by scribes).
