Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ هِشَا٠ٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ آدَ٠ِنَ الطِّينِ فَحَرَّ٠َ أَكْلَ الطِّينِ عَلَى ذُرِّيَّتِهِ. 4.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn Ali from Hisham ibn Salim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, created Adam from clay and has made it unlawful for his offspring to eat clay.’” وثق كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/64))
