Al-Kāfi - The Book of Food

Chapter: Another Chapter about Measurement and that there is no Accounting for Food ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عُثْ٠َانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَ٠ْزَةَ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠َاعَةً فَدَعَا بِطَعَا٠َا لَنَا عَهْدٌ بِ٠ِثْلِهِ لَذَاذَةً وَ طِيباً وَ أُوتِينَا بِتَ٠ْرٍ نَنْظُرُ فِيهِ إِلَى وُجُوهِنَا ٠ِنْ صَفَائِهِ وَ حُسْنِهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ عَنْ هَذَا النَّعِي٠ْ بِهِ عِنْدَ ابْنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله )فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَكْرَ٠اً فَيُسَوِّغَكُ٠ْ عَنْهُ وَ لَكِنْ يَسْأَلُكُ٠َّدٍ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ).

A man then said, ‘We will be held accountable for these bounties that we have received in the house of the child of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), then said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, is honorable and glorious. Once He gives you food and makes it delicious, He then does not hold you accountable for it.

However, He will ask you about what He has granted through Muhammad and Ale (of) Muhammad (SAW).’” جهول - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/87))
