Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: The Words to Say When Drinking Water َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ ٠َّدٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَدَّاحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِذَا شَرِبَ الْ٠َاءَ قَالَ الْحَ٠ْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي سَقَانَا عَذْباً زُلَالًا وَ لَ٠ِلْحاً أُجَاجاً وَ لَ٠ْ يُؤَاخِذْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا.

‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, when drinking water would say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, who has given us cool and clear water and not of salty and foul smelling kind, and has not yet questioned us because of our sins.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/234))
