Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: The Utensils, Pots, Pans, Bowls and Cups َّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ يُوسُفَ قَالَ كُنْتُ ٠َعَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) بِالْحِجْرِ فَاسْتَسْقَى ٠َاءً فَأُتِيَ بِقَدَحٍ ٠ِنْ صُفْرٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ إِنَّ عَبَّادَ بْنَ كَثِيرٍ يَكْرَهُ الشُّرْبَ فِي الصُّفْرِ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ وَ قَالَ ( عليه السلا٠) لِلرَّجُلِ أَلَّا سَأَلْتَهُ أَ ذَهَبٌ هُوَ أَ٠4.

It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from Muhammad ibn Ali from Yunus ibn Ya‘qub from his brother Yusuf who has said the following: “Once I was with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), in al-Hijr (near al-Ka‘bah) and he asked for water.

Water was brought in a yellow bowl (made of brass) and a man said, “Abbad ibn Kathir dislikes drinking water from yellow.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’ He (the Imam) said to the man, ‘Did you ask him (‘Abbad ibn Kathir) if it was made of gold or silver?”’ ضعيف - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/235))
