Al-Kāfi - The Book of Drinks

Chapter: The Utensils, Pots, Pans, Bowls and Cups َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ غِيَاثِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِي٠َ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠ِنِينَ ( عليه السلا٠) لَا تَشْرَبُوا الْ٠َةِ الْإِنَاءِ وَ لَا ٠ِنْ عُرْوَتِهِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَقْعُدُ عَلَى الْعُرْوَةِ وَ الثُّلْ٠5.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin has said, ‘Do not drink water from the broken part of a bowl or from its handle because Satan sits on the broken part and on the handle (ring).”’ وثق - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/236))
