Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Saâid from Ibrahim ibn abu al-Bald from his father [from more than one person who were with him] who has said the following: âI once was with abu Jaâfar (a.s.), and I said, âO Jariyah (girl or slave-girl) give me some water.â He (the Imam) said to her, âGive him from my al-Nabidh.â She then brought al-Nabidh which was a dry date in a cup of brass.â I then said, âPeople of al-Kufah do not agree with it.â He (the Imam) asked, âWhat is their al-Nabidh?â I said, âThey place in it al-Qaâwah.â He (the Imam) asked, âWhat is al-Qaâwah?â I said, âIt is al-Dadhiy.â He (the Imam) asked, âWhat is al-Dadhiy?â I said, âIt is residue of dates.â He (the Imam) said, âIt stains the pot by the time it rises, then boils, then it becomes intoxicating liquor; then it is used for drink.â He (the Imam) then said, âThis is unlawful.ââ جÙÙÙ - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (MirʾÄt al-Ê¿UqÅ«l fÄ« Sharḥ AkhbÄr Äl al-RasÅ«l (22/277))
