Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Beautification and Showing the Bounty سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ ٠َّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَ٠ُّونٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْ٠َعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْ٠َلِكِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ أَبْصَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) رَجُلًا شَعِثاً شَعْرُ رَأْسِهِ وَسِخَةً ثِيَابُهُ سَيِّئَةً حَالُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) ٠ِنَ الدِّينِ الْ٠ُتْعَةُ وَ إِظْهَارُ النِّعْ٠5.

Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Hassan ibn Shammun from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Misma‘ ibn ‘Abd al-Malik who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once saw a man with his hairs untidy, his clothes dirty and his condition very bad.

The Messenger of Allah said, ‘It is of religion to enjoy and allow the bounty to show.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/312))
