Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Wearing al-Khazz (fur or skin of an animal that lives in water) عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلا٠) عَنْ جُلُودِ الْخَزِّ فَقَالَ هُوَ ذَا نَلْبَسُ الْخَزَّ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ ذَاكَ الْوَبَرُ فَقَالَ إِذَا حَلَّ وَبَرُهُ حَلَّ جِلْدُهُ.

He (the Imam) said, ‘It is al-Khazz that we wear.’ I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, that is fur.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If its fur is lawful so also is its skin.’” صحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/331))
