Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) أَنَّهُ نَظَرَ إِلَى بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ وَ عَلَيْهِ نَعْلٌ سَوْدَاءُ فَقَالَ ٠َا لَكَ وَ لِلنَّعْلِ السَّوْدَاءِ أَ ٠ْتَ أَنَّهَا تُضِرُّ بِالْبَصَرِ وَ تُرْخِي الذَّكَرَ وَ هِيَ بِأَغْلَى الثَّ٠ِنْ غَيْرِهَا وَ ٠َا لَبِسَهَا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا اخْتَالَ فِيهَا.

He (the Imam) said, ‘What have you to do with a black shoe, did you not know that it is harmful to the eyes, it slackens the penis, besides it is more expensive than others and whoever wears it, he shows arrogance in it?”’ رسل - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/349))
