Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ سِرْحَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ لَيْسَ بِتَحْلِيَةِ الْ٠َصَاحِفِ وَ السُّيُوفِ بِالذَّهَبِ وَ الْفِضَّةِ بَأْسٌ. 7.

A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn abu Nasr from Dawud ibn Sarhan who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful to decorate al-Musahaf (Quran and books) and swords with gold and silver.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (2/365))
