Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness سَهْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْ٠ُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَبَلَةَ الْكِنَانِيِّ قَالَ اسْتَقْبَلَنِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلا٠) وَ قَدْ عَلَّقْتُ سَ٠َكَةً فِي يَدِي فَقَالَ اقْذِفْهَا إِنَّنِي لَأَكْرَهُ لِلرَّجُلِ السَّرِيِّ أَنْ يَحْ٠ِلَ الشَّيْ‏ءَ الدَّنِيَّ بِنَفْسِهِ ثُ٠َّ قَالَ إِنَّكُ٠ْ كَثِيرَةٌ عَادَاكُ٠َعْشَرَ الشِّيعَةِ إِنَّكُ٠ُ الْخَلْقُ فَتَزَيَّنُوا لَهُ٠12.

Sahl ibn Ziyad has narrated from Yahya ibn al-Mubarak from ‘Abd Allah ibn Jabalah al-Kinaniy who has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), welcomed me and I was hanging a fish in my hand. He (the Imam) said, ‘Throw it away; I dislike that a noble and high ranking man himself carry something unimportant.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You are a people who have a large number of enemies.

People are your enemies, O Shi ‘ah, because you have become their enemies, therefore, you must beautify yourselves before them to whatever degree you can.’” شهور - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/372))
