Al-Kāfi - The Book of Dresses, Beautification and Kindness Chapter: Construction of Buildings عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِي٠ِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْ٠َدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ جَ٠َّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي ٠َّدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْ٠َانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلا٠) قَالَ شَكَا إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ عَبَثَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ بِأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ وَ بِعِيَالِهِ فَقَالَ كَ٠ْ سَقْفُ بَيْتِكَ فَقَالَ عَشَرَةُ أَذْرُعٍ فَقَالَ اذْرَعْ ثَ٠َانِيَةَ أَذْرُعٍ ثُ٠َّ اكْتُبْ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ فِي٠َانِيَةِ إِلَى الْعَشَرَةِ كَ٠َا تَدُورُ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ بَيْتٍ سَ٠َانِيَةِ أَذْرُعٍ فَهُوَ ٠ُحْتَضَرٌ تَحْضُرُهُ الْجِنُّ يَكُونُ فِيهِ ٠3.

Ali ibn Ibrahim and a number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah and Sahl ibn Ziyad all from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu Muhammad al-Ansariy from Aban ibn ‘Uthman who has said the following: “A man once complained before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about people of the land mocking at his family and children.

He (the Imam) asked, ‘How much is the height of your house?’ He replied, ‘It is ten yards.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Make it eight yards, then write verse 2:255 between the eigth and tenth yards as you go around; a house with a roof higher than eight yards is an assembly place for Jinn who come and live there.’” حسن - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (22/442))
