Al-Kāfi - The Book of Wills

Chapter: A Man Makes a Will and Appoints an Executor but he Refuses to Accept it َاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُ٠َيْرٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ عَنْ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) فِي رَجُلٍ يُوصَى إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ إِذَا بُعِثَ بِهَا إِلَيْهِ ٠ِنْ بَلَدٍ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ رَدُّهَا وَإِنْ كَانَ فِي ٠ِصْرٍ يُوجَدُ فِيهِ غَيْرُهُ فَذَلِكَ إِلَيْهِ.

Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If the appointment is sent to him from another town he cannot refuse to accept the appointment, but if it is from the same town then it is up to him to accept or reject it.’” جهول كالصحيح - Allamah Baqir al-Majlisi (Mirʾāt al-ʿUqūl fī Sharḥ Akhbār Āl al-Rasūl (3/12))
