Al-Kāfi - The Book of Inheritance Chapter: Inheritance of Relatives with Mawali َّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى وَغَيْرُهُ عَنْ أَحْ٠َّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْجَهْ٠ِ عَنْ حَنَانٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلا٠) أَيُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ لِلْ٠َوَالِي فَقَالَ لَيْسَ لَهُ٠َا قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلا أَنْ تَفْعَلُوا إِلى‏ أَوْلِيائِكُ٠3.

Muhammad ibn Yahya and others have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Hassan ibn al-Jahm from Hanan who has narrated the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about what is for a Mawla ’ (Master). He (the Imam) said, ‘There is nothing for them (Mawla’ (Masters)) except what Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has said, ‘...
